Enlightening points are presented to your readers in the first two paragraphs of your medical column of December 29. Frank acknowledgment in succeeding paragraphs of results achieved by methods classed as faith healing no doubt includes the widely known healing efficiency of Christian Science.

It should be noted that much more than "a spirit of hopefulness" is at work through Christian Science for the recovery of a patient. Some measure of the Christly understanding of our Saviour's perfect practice is operating, as, indeed, it so fully pervades and inspires all the writings of Mary Baker Eddy. Christ Jesus declared, "If ye continue in my word, ... ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." The study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, imparts this scientific spiritual understanding through which Christian healing is effected.

Nor should the impression be allowed that a patient's condition is regarded lightly, or carelessly, in Christian Science practice. On page 460 of our textbook we are told: "Sickness is neither imaginary nor unreal,—that is, to the frightened, false sense of the patient. Sickness is more than fancy; it is solid conviction. It is therefore to be dealt with through right apprehension of the truth of being."
