Although I am a beginner in Christian Science, nevertheless...
Although I am a beginner in Christian Science, nevertheless I have had three healings which have been accomplished through the help of a practitioner. The first was one of tonsillitis, which attacked me in the early hours of the morning, and which soon became almost unbearable, both my tonsils being so swollen I could hardly swallow. Through the help of a practitioner the pain soon disappeared and I could enjoy solid food.
The second healing was that of an abscess in the nose. This condition started on a Friday, and with the week end close at hand I tried to heal the condition myself, but without success. By Monday morning my nose was so inflamed that I called a practitioner and asked her to help me, telling her that everyone with whom I came in contact passed some remark about it. She said she would work for my protection, and, although I went about my business as usual, no one remarked about it. By Tuesday night no trace of the trouble was apparent. It did not disappear as a result of discharge but just went into its native nothingness.
My third healing was that of the smoking, drinking, and swearing habits, to which I had been a slave for over twenty years. The drinking habit was not hard to overcome, as I drank only to be sociable; but with smoking it was different, because I thought I enjoyed this, as was apparent from my smoking thirty to forty cigarettes a day, with about four or five before breakfast.
I am grateful that Mrs. Eddy lived so close to God that she was able to receive this wonderful truth and to give it out in such a manner as could be understood. For all the love shown to me by practitioners and friends, both in this country and abroad, and for all that the Christian Science movement is doing for the world, I am most grateful.
