The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

KATONAH, NEW YORK (First Church).

Lecturer: Gavin W. Allan; introduced by Mrs. Alice T. Edwards, who said:—

When Pilate asked Jesus, "What is truth?" he did not wait for an answer. But Jesus, the evening before, had said to Thomas, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." Throughout history men have asked this question, "What is truth?" and everyone, consciously or otherwise, longs for truth. A dictionary defines "truth" as "agreement with reality." Therefore, truth must be immortal, eternal, unchangeable, and ever present. And since God made all, and saw that it was good, only perfection can be true.
