When I first began to attend the Christian Science...
When I first began to attend the Christian Science church, I often wondered whether Christian Scientists did not make too much mention of their Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. Now I should like to say that no reverence is too great for her. When I grasped the meaning of these words, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," I was immediately filled with great gratitude, because I felt much freer from all kinds of errors, which hitherto had caused me much anxiety. As I extended my research and study of the Christian Science literature, I began to understand and to see with how much love and self-sacrifice our Leader showed us the way to Truth and freedom. How great is her work, and yet how simply she sets everything before us in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
No knowledge has made me so rich and happy as that which I have gained in Christian Science, which has enabled me to understand all else aright. I am, therefore, very glad that I was led to this Science so early in my experience, and I heartily thank all who led me in this way and have continued to help me.
I should like to relate two wonderful healings. One day a Christian Scientist in my village heard a woman talking to her neighbor. The woman's child had suffered from diphtheria, and as a result was afflicted with a serious eye trouble and almost the entire loss of her voice. Little improvement in the child's condition was expected, as the doctor had said she could never be healed. Upon hearing this, the neighbor, who was a Christian Scientist, called the mother to her and told her that her child could soon be restored to health. She advised her to see a Christian Science practitioner in a near-by city. Trustfully the mother followed this advice, and with her child went to see the practitioner mentioned. The morning following their visit the child was completely well.
