Overcoming

Dear Father, may we stand through error's night,
Rejoicing in Truth's ever present day;
Like Jacob strive, and like him see the light,
Steadfastly hold to angel-thoughts alway;
Resist all evil; prove its nothingness;
Destroy the arguments of mortal sense,
And find security in time of stress
By firm reliance on omnipotence.

As from the mount of vision we discern
The perfect man of Thy supreme design,
Oh, may we conquer mortal self, and learn
The nature of the universe divine.
Dear Father, may we win true wisdom, strength,
Be purified in Spirit's cleansing flame,
Until victoriously we gain at length
The guerdon of a new and glorious name.
