"Can you stand ridicule?" the writer of the "Gulf Gleam"...

Morning Tribune

"Can you stand ridicule?" the writer of the "Gulf Gleam" column asks. Yes; Christian Science has stood it for many years, and has not ceased from growing all these years in spite of it.

But when a writer confesses, "We don't know anything about Christian Science," and then goes on to discuss something he says he does not understand, he puts himself in a ridiculous position. To say that Christian Science teaches that "if you have a toothache and will think you haven't a toothache, then you won't have a toothache," is absurd. The Christian Scientist does not practice suggestion or hypnotism. He is learning how to make use of the same laws of God which the great Metaphysician, Christ Jesus, used, and with such success that the world at large is ready to bear witness.
