For the benefit and encouragement of any sufferer I...
For the benefit and encouragement of any sufferer I give this testimony of the wonderful healing which I experienced four years ago.
I had been ailing for some time and often complained to my husband of a pain in my left side, until ultimately I was stricken with illness. The doctor was called in, and for a time he was puzzled by the symptoms. Finally I complained of a lump in my left side, to which the attention of the doctor was called. He looked very much concerned, and after he had given me a third examination my husband pressed him for a diagnosis of the complaint. Rather reluctantly he gave him the verdict of "intestinal cancer" and advised an immediate removal to a hospital for an X-ray examination. He said the only hope was that the disease was in its early stages. Naturally all this was kept from me.
My husband, being overcome by distress, wrote to a sister who for some years had been a student of Christian Science. He did not do this with any idea of treatment, but because he feared that I was going to pass on, and, as he said, he wished me to have the comfort of a loving sister. She came the same day, bringing with her a Christian Science practitioner, to whom I shall ever be indebted for her beautiful explanation of God. From that moment the light began to break in my consciousness. I had so much physical relief that I partook of a solid meal then and there, the first time in many days, as previously I could take only liquids. I decided to take up Christian Science for my healing, also to give up all medicines, and I pleaded with my husband to discharge the doctor and to cancel hospital arrangements. This he did after much hesitation, as the doctor had visited him specially to warn him of his responsibility.
