The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Rochester, New York (Second Church).

Lecturer: Professor Hermann S. Hering; introduced by Ellwood M. Harris, who said:—

A familiar beatitude reads, "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." Your presence here tonight indicates a hungering and thirsting after righteousness—after right ideas, after a larger understanding of God, of man and of man's relation to God, and what that understanding means to you in greater freedom from sickness, sorrow, lack, and all the ills with which mankind seems to be troubled. And the promise reads, "For they shall be filled." Healings of lameness, deafness, wearing of glasses, of the smoking and drinking habits, and many other unhappy conditions have taken place at Christian Science lectures such as you are about to hear. Expect to be helped, expect freedom, expect all good, because every statement of truth has the power of God behind it and the power of God's Word heals.
