From an Address delivered by Mrs. Elisabeth F. Norwood at a Literature Distribution Committer meeting held in The Mother Church on Friday evening,—February 16, 1934

After our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, discovered the gospel of Christian Science, at God's command she also eatablished the Christian Science organization for the protection and promotion of this religion. It was out of Mrs. Eddy's great love for God and man that she gave us the gospel and organization of Christian Science. The gospel proves of itself that it is the Christ, Truth, but the progress of the organization depends on the consecrated work of Christian Scientists. It was true consecration which started and sustained our organization in its early days, and the same consecration is needed today in order to forward our organization.

In all our Leader's work she looked not to material riches nor to human influence for support, but to God, and then to her followers, expecting them to sustain loyally her demonstration.

Our periodicals, including our daily paper, are a part of the organization activities, and they carry into the world healing messages of the gospel and reports of progress of the organization. They are Mrs. Eddy's gifts to us, so let us ask ourselves if we are giving to them as much as we should be giving in gratitude for what they are doing for us, and in appreciation of all that our Leader, their Founder, has done for us.
