Words always fail me when I try to express my gratitude...
Words always fail me when I try to express my gratitude for Christian Science. I have studied this Science for about three years. It was indeed a blessing to me when I began using the truth it teaches. It has been a great help to me in taking care of our little son. I was helped so much at the time our baby was born that I felt I wanted to know more of this truth. The baby was such a small one, weighing only four and one half pounds when one day old, this weight including all his wraps, that much error was voiced, especially by the attending physician. Even my family, who were not Scientists, did not expect the baby to live. But the truth pulled him through; he is now over two years old and is quite normal.
I had always been one who never cared much for religion and people; but since taking up the study of Christian Science I have changed my idea of religion and of people too. Recently, while reading some of the periodicals, I came across this statement, "The only way to make a friend, is to be a friend." This indeed helped me, for I have always waited for the other person to be a friend first. But in Christian Science we are taught to do our part. I want to express my gratitude for the local Reading Room; it surely has meant much to me. I knew few people in town and was lonely. I always looked forward to the day when the Reading Room was open, and I still do.
When moving to this town over three years ago I knew very few people and nothing of Christian Science. It was hard to find a place in which to live. We moved seven times in two years and something always came up, so that we were never satisfied. When the eighth time came to move I knew a little of the truth taught in Christian Science, so I decided to rely on God. I did my mental work and then left it to God. I listened for the voice of Truth. We have been in this place for more than a year without having any sense of dissatisfaction. I am so grateful that there is a way to work out things with God.
