Sanctuary

A blessed quiet comes to me,
It may be short, it may be long,
In calm retreat or in the throng,
I reck not where or when it be.

Suddenly falls that "Peace, be still"
And hushed is all the clamoring strife,
The surging rush of human life,
And thoughts of God my thinking fill

With all assurances of good,
Of health and joy and tranquiel rest.
Learning and living Love's behest
One moment, God is understood.

One moment's pause in the hurried pace!
Day unto day shall add increase
Till time's evaluations cease
And earth be heaven's resting place.
