The account of a lecture by a professor, reported in your paper, would give your readers an erroneous impression of Christian Science and its method of healing. Christian Science does heal organic disease as well as functional and nervous disorders. Testimonies of healing are published each week in the Christian Science Sentinel and each month in The Christian Science Journal. All these testimonies have been carefully verified. They cover a wide range of diseases, and many of the sufferers had turned to Christian Science only as a last resource after all other means had failed.

It is not correct to say that Christian Scientists ignore disease; and the case the professor mentions is not at all typical of Christian Science cases. The following quotation is from the Preface of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. xi): "The physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus' time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their reality in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation."
