Christian Science has done everything for me
Christian Science has done everything for me. From early childhood I used to fret over the wrongs of the world, including those which were far removed from my personal experience. Before I was twenty I had discarded a personal sense of God as altogether inadequate for human needs, and having nothing better to put in its place I became steadily more unhappy and hopeless. Searching in every direction for answers to the many questions which had persisted and multiplied through the years, I was led to Christian Science. The hope and expectant joy that came to me on hearing the real nature of God and man explained by Christian Science were wonderful, and utterly new. At once I began to experience physical healings of which I was greatly in need. Internal catarrh of some years' standing was healed after I began to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Headaches, sleeplessness, predisposition to coughs and colds, eczema, and moods of deep depression were some of the ills that soon left me as I continued to study. Two seemingly extremely serious cases of illness in my family were healed by a Christian Science practitioner after failing to yield to medical treatment. All these experiences helped me immensely.
Later I had a beautiful healing of sunstroke. For two days I argued and contended for the spiritual nature of man, and on the morning of the third day realized an instantaneous healing when all feeling of illness, numbness, and pain in my head left me. This helped me to understand the purely spiritual nature of Christian Science healing.
Problems other than the healing of physical disease have been more difficult. One in particular baffled me for a very long time. Again and again my efforts proved futile and I became most discouraged. I shall always be grateful for the kind help of a practitioner when things seemed at their very worst. It was not until I discovered a latent sense of resentment, wholly unsuspected — the remnant of an old erroneous belief that God was responsible indirectly for the ills of mankind — that I began to see how to set to work to solve the problem. It is not possible to tell of all the good I have received from Christian Science, but I can say truly there is no phase of my experience that has not been enriched through its blessed influence.
