Having been a student of Christian Science for quite a...
Having been a student of Christian Science for quite a number of years, I feel it is high time to express my gratitude. Christian Science came into my experience unsought, through conversation with two Christian Scientists who, at that time, were looked upon in my social circle as very odd and unusual people. Though interested, I did not at once become a student, but through a Christian Science friend I experienced a healing of a very troublesome condition of the heart for which I had repeatedly gone to doctors and which necessitated my resting for long periods. An excellent doctor called it "a nervous heart," and said it would get worse as I grew older. This condition was entirely overcome by Christian Science. Another healing which seemed to me most wonderful was that of chilblains, from which I had suffered from childhood but never so much as after I married and came to live in Ireland. The irritation seemed almost unbearable, and at last I asked for help. It came at once, and after one treatment I rarely was troubled again.
I have been healed of influenza and many minor troubles; but one of the most beautiful healings I have had was of the results of a severe motor accident. It took place a week before I was to introduce the lecturer at our Christian Science lecture, and as I had been brought home in an ambulance, quite unable to stand, it seemed very improbable that I should be at my post. However, the faithful practitioner held to the truth of the unreality of all accidents in God's kingdom, the only kingdom there is; and I was soon able to work too. In two days' time I was up, and in three, able to go on with my usual doings. On the appointed day
I was able to drive nearly thirty miles and to speak to a large audience without any difficulty.
