I should like to express my sincere gratitude for Christian Science by relating a healing that I had. One morning, upon rising, I felt very severe pains in my back. I clung to the truth, and declared "the scientific statement of being" from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 468) many times, but the thought came to me that I must have taken cold while doing the washing a few days before. After I accepted this thought, the trouble asserted itself more strongly; the pains became so intense that I could hardly stand or sit. My left side swelled to such an extent that it seemed deformed. A Christian Science practitioner was requested to call on me. The practitioner came immediately, and by his comforting words he showed me the necessity of ridding myself of the belief that a socalled material law had been broken by my washing under unfavorable conditions: that the work which I had done was natural and right, and that nothing could harm me as a consequence of having fulfilled my duty.

He also destroyed the fear that had taken possession of those about me, and after the first treatment I was at once relieved; the pain decreased, and entirely disappeared in two days. The swelling went down gradually and I was healed. I am deeply grateful for this beautiful healing which has been added to the many other blessings that my family and I have received through Christian Science.

Sincere gratitude is also felt towards the consecrated practitioner who helped me and sustained me with such kindness in this struggle against error. Through this experience I have gained a better understanding of Truth, and of the goodness and love of the ever present Father.
