Sincerity and Truth

THE joyous and free spirit of genuine sincerity is immortal. Through pure desire, profound seekers for Truth comprehend its spiritual value, and by reechoing Truth's holy purpose find the healing animus of sincerity. The priceless worth of this divine attribute is realized as with sacrifice, honest toil, and unselfed love one perseveres in obedience to the divine Principle revealed in Christian Science.

The word "sincere" means true, honest, upright, genuine, straightforward. Sincerity is spiritually coincident with the truth which bases all demonstration of divine law. Spiritual truth is eternal. An understanding of it supports righteousness against the lying errors of all insincerity and unloveliness.

Joshua, Moses' successor, in recounting the great blessings which had been poured upon the children of Israel, pointed out that it was theirs to decide between Truth and error, saying, "Choose you this day whom ye will serve." He preceded this statement, however, with the straightforward exhortation: "Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth."
