I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing, but through a very beautiful healing of my husband I began with him to attend the church services and to study the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. My husband was healed of a very painful growth in the head for which the doctors had advised an immediate operation, as he was almost at the point of losing his reason. He had not been able to work for some time, and we did not have the money to pay for the operation; and as it promised only temporary relief he thought there was no use having it.

However, "man's extremity is God's opportunity," and at that time Christian Science was presented to us. Although my husband felt very much prejudiced against what he thought it was, he listened earnestly to the dear friend who told him about this beautiful truth. When she departed she left the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, on the table. He picked it up and read it for several hours, then retired and slept peacefully all night, the first rest he had had for months. The next day he was convinced there was something to Christian Science. He continued reading, and also attended a Wednesday evening testimony meeting, which was an additional inspiration to him. His condition continued to improve until error took him away from his reading and he began to neglect the truth. Again the trouble returned and he suffered intensely all night; but the seed of Truth had been firmly planted, and the next day he called on a Christian Science practitioner and asked for a treatment, which was lovingly given. He was healed instantaneously. All pain left him, and he was free. The next day the growth came away completely, through dependence upon spiritual power and means alone, the operation of divine Love proving that "the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword."

This healing took place sixteen years ago and has been permanent. Since then we have relied solely on Christian Science to meet our every need, and it has never failed. We have had many beautiful proofs — physically, morally, and financially — for which words fail to express my gratitude.
