In Isaiah we read this wonderful invitation: "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price." Many times in our beloved Bible we are bidden to this fountain of life. I can never be thankful enough that I have been divinely guided to this living fountain, this river of peace and healing. I know beyond a shadow of doubt that to drink from this fountain and to partake of the heavenly manna in the way our beloved and inspired Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, shows us in her great textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," is the one certain remedy for all the troubles that beset mankind.
For over thirty years I had suffered from tubercular lungs and bronchial tubes, with a violent racking cough, chronic laryngitis, severe headaches, and internal complaints caused by constantly taking cough mixtures. I had undergone a six months' treatment in a sanitarium, and was never without emulsions, oils, lozenges, and medicines, and had continual open-air treatment when at home. Numerous specialists and doctors, for whom I have the greatest respect, told me I should always have a cough, and should never be able to do work requiring any strength or energy, or to stoop, as the paroxysms of coughing had affected my heart. I had seldom enjoyed a good night's rest.
About eight years ago I came to live in the north of England, after living all my life in the south. This step, I am sure, was taken with divine guidance, for on the journey here I met and converesed with a Christian Scientist; and near my new home a Christian Science church was being built. I felt strongly drawn towards it, and attended the first service held there; it simply radiated love, joy, and peace. I immediately obtained a copy of Science and Health, and realized at once that this was what I had needed; this was the "key" to explain the puzzles of life, and to heal the sorrows of humanity, which had so often caused me deep questionings and sadness. Now I know to my great joy that the way to health and happiness is found, and that Christian Science is that way.
