Stratford Mirror

May I refer very briefly to a criticism in the issue of November 15, by "Bible Christian," of my former letter. Apparently our critical friend is unable, or else unwilling, to accept positive fact in contradistinction to preconceived opinion. To offset any possible misunderstanding arising from a perversion of statements, may I state most emphatically that Christian Science positively accords all power to God, and acknowledges Him as absolutely supreme. No amount of negative criticism can alter this positive fact.

If our friend is sincere in his adoption of the name "Bible Christian," he should be familiar with, and should readily accept and apply, the pertinent advice of Gamaliel, as recorded in the Bible, "And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: but if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God."

With all due respect to "Bible Christian's" privilege to think as he pleases, I will say authoritatively that his conception of Christian Science is incorrect. Regardless of any statement or belief to the contrary, Christian Science is founded on the Bible, and does express the teachings and example of Christ Jesus. To think otherwise is merely to be misinformed.
