Christian Science was brought to my attention through...
Christian Science was brought to my attention through the healing of a dear friend who suffered from what doctors had termed incurable heart disease. I witnessed her experience with amazement, realizing that it had resulted from the same healing method that Christ Jesus used and taught his disciples; but, as many others do, I turned a deaf ear and blinded my eyes to this wonderful truth, continuing to pursue my old way until there came a time when I could go no farther.
One day I was very severely burned. All known remedies were tried with no relief whatever, and something else had to be done. Christian Science was again presented to me, and this time I accepted it and asked for treatment, which was given absently. In a very short time I retired and slept well all night. I awakened in the morning free from any sense of pain. When I realized this healing I renounced all drugs and accepted Christian Science whole-heartedly.
In the light of this experience I looked back in gratitude to the friend who had first told me of Christian Science and realized what had been done for me some six months previously through her impersonal work. For years I had suffered from a trouble which, according to the diagnosis of two doctors, was caused by the displacement of one of the organs of the body. They finally said I could not live more than six months unless I submitted to a surgical operation. I went to my friend and told her of my distress. She comforted and encouraged me, saying that she was sure I need not have the operation if I did not wish it. That very day I became interested in some new work and forgot all about self. Months afterwards, when someone reminded me that the doctors had given me only six months to live, I realized for the first time that I was well and that the displaced organ was now in its right place. This occurred over nineteen years ago.
