I am grateful to God for Christian Science, for I have received many blessings through the application of its teachings.
I had suffered for years with what doctors called cancer of the stomach in its last stages and also epileptic spasms which seemed to affect me mentally as well as physically. My first healing came at a time of great need when my physician told me materia medica could do no more for me and I had but a short time to live. It was at this time that Christian Science was first mentioned to me by friends and neighbors who saw me failing day by day, but I would not listen to them. I had reached the point where I did not believe in the existence of God; but one day in my extremity I prayed that I might be delivered from my distress and that if there were a God that I might know Him. This was my first prayer for many years, and it was soon answered. Shortly after this I called on a Christian Science practitioner for help, not because I wanted to but because I did not know what else to do to get relief from pain. After three treatments, and within ten days, I was healed of the cancer and was able to enjoy my food. The epileptic fits did not yield so quickly, for I had a great dread of them and they seemed so real. However, they vanished in proportion as fear of them was overcome.
It is now fourteen years since my first healing, and for this wonderful experience I am very grateful; but for the second healing, words cannot express my gratitude, for it surely made me search and try God's Word and promise.
