The fact that to-day I am perfectly well, physically and mentally, I owe solely to Christian Science. About eight years ago, while living in Germany, I had an attack of the grippe, and suffered very much afterwards. It was only with difficulty that I could attend to my work, and at home I was not able to do anything; whereas before my illness I had been able to continue my education. I was growing weaker all the time, and was very unhappy because I was accomplishing less and less. After long treatment, the physician whom I had consulted said he could do no more for me. So I consulted another physician, who thought that injections would give me the help I required. These did not have the desired effect. Then I gave up medical aid and medicines, for I knew I could expect nothing more from them; but I did not neglect to continue to ask God for help, and in my great need more fervently than ever. He answered my prayer, for kind friends who were not adherents but had heard of Christian Science, showed me the way.

As a result I attended a Wednesday evening meeting, and the many beautiful testimonies given there gave me courage again and raised my hopes. A loving practitioner on whom I at once called, and whom I asked for help, endeavored to explain the truth to me. After a few days there was an improvement, and a few weeks later I was perfectly well. A complaint I had had since childhood, at times causing me much suffering, also disappeared completely at the same time.

For all the good I have received I am profoundly grateful to God. It is my endeavor to learn more and more of the truth, to lead a pure life, and to follow faithfully the example of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.
