In a recent issue of the Daily News the writer of an article entitled "Keeping Fit," makes in substance the following statement: That with a good deal of ancient heresy Christian Science has at least recovered the New Testament meaning of the word "salvation." "Heresy," according to Webster, means "rejection of, or erroneous belief in regard to, some fundamental religious doctrine or truth." It is a contradiction, therefore, to say that Christian Science has recovered to us the true meaning of "salvation," but at the same time has broken away from Christianity. Christ Jesus said, "I am the way." Christ being the way of salvation, salvation and Christianity cannot be separated.

In her work "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 174) Mrs. Eddy asks the question, "Shall that be called heresy which pleads for Spirit — the All of God, and His omnipresence?" This question can be answered only in the negative.

Christian Science, acknowledging the one omnipresent God, taking the whole garment of Christ, thus restoring the lost element of healing, most certainly is not heretical. Jesus said: "A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. . . . Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."
