About seventeen years ago I experienced my first healing in Christian Science, that of chronic constipation, which had troubled me for many years and for which I had taken much medicine. Visiting a Christian Science practitioner one Wednesday afternoon and asking her to give me a treatment, I was advised to borrow a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. This I did and started to read it through. I read a little each day, and the following Wednesday, while I was reading the lines on page 174, "The footsteps of thought, rising above material standpoints, are slow, and portend a long night to the traveller; but the angels of His presence—the spiritual intuitions that tell us when 'the night is far spent, the day is at hand'—are our guardians in the gloom," a light and peace which I shall never forget came to my consciousness, and I realized that I was healed. From that day to this I have never taken one drop of medicine in any form, and I am enjoying good health.

In the meantime I have experienced other healings. Sick headaches from which I suffered for many years have been overcome, also influenza; and a growth on one of my thumbs disappeared almost instantaneously when I applied the truth to the best of my understanding. With the help of a Christian Science practitioner I was healed of a severe nervous breakdown in a very short time. For all of these healings I am truly grateful.

Christian Science has met my every need all these years. When one has been regenerated by the truth that makes men free, words are inadequate to express one's love and gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for giving Science and Health to the world, so that each may prove for himself that Christian Science does heal the sick as well as reform the sinner. On page 569 of the textbook she writes, "He that touches the hem of Christ's robe and masters his mortal beliefs, animality and hate, rejoices in the proof of healing,—in a sweet and certain sense that God is Love."
