On October 16 an article appeared in your paper reporting an address delivered in Carthage by a doctor on the subject "Recent Advances in Medicine." This article contains a statement in regard to Christian Science which gives a wrong impression. I would, therefore, appreciate the privilege of a brief space in your publication to correct this impression.

The doctor states, "The known fact among doctors that the mind must aid in the progress of return to health was made use of in the doctrine of Christian Science for a short time, and later a turn was made sharply to surgery as the only cure."

If the article refers to the human so-called mind his statement is entirely at variance with the teachings of this religion. Christian Science, which is the Christian religion, ascribes all power to divine Mind, God. Christian Science considers God as divine, therefore above that which is human. Consequently, Christian Scientists are taught that when they look to divine Mind as the source of all healing, they are looking to God, the creator of the universe, including spiritual man.
