That I am alive to-day and perfectly well I owe solely to Christian Science. Human knowledge and material help were not able to save me.
Several years ago I had a tooth extracted, at the roots of which had been a suppurating swelling for months. The swelling, however, did not go down, but rather grew larger and had to be opened by a surgeon. The wound became infected and blood poisoning set in finally leading to further complications. The doctors knew of nothing more to help me. From a medical point of view I was near the end.
Then I asked for Christian Science treatment. The fever left me in the first hour of treatment, and only the feeling that my face and head were swollen remained. Before the operative Truth mortal mind was forced into silence, being replaced by the activity of divine Mind. Thus this time became the most beautiful and happiest of my life; for through the constant work of the practitioner I knew I was under divine law and that I was learning to understand Christ; and the hours which might have been terrible ones were hours of renewal and regeneration. This healing proved to me that God is the Life of man, indestructible and eternal. I felt so safe in the healing Christ, Truth, that it was impossible for me to have even the slightest fear or doubt. A chronic stomach trouble and other chronic and so-called hereditary ills also disappeared under the operation of Truth. Naturally one who is being born anew under divine law is desirous of placing his whole life and work under this law. In this way I am trying to express my gratitude.
