Sound Business
While the healing of disease through spiritual means has come quite generally to be recognized, it is not so commonly acknowledged that the same divine Principle is available to solve all the problems which confront mankind. Yet there is full warrant to assert, even to asseverate, that the Christ, Truth, is mighty to the correction of every inharmonious situation and to govern every right activity in human affairs. Christian Science discloses God to be all-powerful, infinite, ever present, and available through His Christ to destroy every phase of false belief, to pull down every stronghold built by mortal mind, so called, in pursuance of its persistent effort to establish itself as the source of intelligence. But since God is infinite and eternally harmonious, discord as belief—and it has no other origin or support than illusory belief—has no foundation in fact.
This truth applied with understanding to every erroneous belief eliminates the falsity and reveals the heavenly harmony. But what has this to do with business? one might inquire. This! Business rightly conceived and carried out, through demonstration, is a manifestation of the presence and operation of divine law; it is the expression of God's purpose to meet mankind's every need.
It has been wisely said that to win success one must first deserve success. How is success deserved? The criterion established by Christ Jesus has never been superseded. It stands forever. Seeking first the kingdom of God is the necessity. Therefore all business rightly conceived is carried on for the primary purpose of having part in the bringing of God's kingdom into human experience. If it has another purpose,—to promote selfish ends, to produce wealth for its own sake, to satisfy ambition,—if it has any purpose other than the establishment of God's kingdom on earth, it is wrongly conceived.
