In a recent issue of your paper, you quote from an address delivered by a doctor wherein he says, "Christian Science in one of its aspects is an organized system of quackery allied to religion." As this statement is untrue, and therefore unjust, kindly allow me to make a correction.

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes in her Message to The Mother Church for 1901 (p. 30), "Christian Scientists are practically nonresistants; they are too occupied with doing good, observing the Golden Rule, to retaliate or to seek redress; they are not quacks, giving birth to nothing and death to all,—but they are leaders of a reform in religion and in medicine, and they have no craft that is in danger."

Christian Science does not pretend anything. It proves all things, and its only medicine is Mind. Christian Science is not allied to any religion, for it is in itself a complete religion. It is based wholly upon the Bible, including the teachings of Christ Jesus, who commanded his followers to do the works he did and to heal the sick. But our Master employed no material means in his healing ministry. Hence, Christian Science practitioners do not use matter, but go directly to God, Mind, to enable them to heal the sick.
