The article "Christian Science Fails Again" so misinterprets...

Truth

The article "Christian Science Fails Again" so misinterprets the great truth underlying Christian Science that I would request space to clear away the false impression it is likely to leave with your readers. It would appear that the patient referred to had persisted with many doctors and medicines without success for a longer period than two months, and because treatment under Christian Science did not relieve him in that period he apparently was led to condemn it bitterly. Christian Science has not reached its present standing in the world through failures, but through its successes. Many of the members and adherents of Christian Science churches have been lifted out of the shadow of death into which they had descended, in spite of expert treatment in material remedies. Freed from their fears, torments, and sufferings, these people stand as living witnesses of the healing and regenerating power of Truth as taught in Christian Science. Too long has humanity relied on materiality. Honest comparison between the results of material treatment and Christian Science treatment reveals the cause of the rapid growth of the Christian Science movement.

Your article refers to the power of suggestion, and also to the healing methods of a certain person. Both methods are very far removed from Christian Science practice, and should therefore not be considered to have any connection with it. Christian Science definitely declares that the problem of disease can be solved only through the understanding of divine Mind. If God, Mind, saw everything He had made, and it was good, then the Mind that made all can maintain its perfect creation in eternal harmony. Mrs. Eddy clearly shows the way out of all our troubles when she states in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 371), "The necessity for uplifting the race is father to the fact that Mind can do it; for Mind can impart purity instead of impurity, strength instead of weakness, and health instead of disease."
