[Written for the Sentinel]

Aspiration

Upward , ever upward,
To the heights above,
Where the sun is shining,
Telling God is Love.

Down in misty valley
Have we lingered long,
Where there gleamed no sunshine,
Came no blithe bird's song.

Think not of the valley,
Ye who climb the height;
Plant your footsteps firmly,
Face toward the light.

Upward, ever upward,
Love will lead the way
Out of error's darkness
Into perfect day.
