What Did Hinder?

God's law is the law of progress, activity, and freedom; and it proves its presence and activity in countless ways. Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, says in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 243), "Truth, Life, and Love are a law of annihilation to everything unlike themselves, because they declare nothing except God." Error would try to hinder us with thoughts of discouragement, fear, doubt, lack, and the like. But can something which is unreal have power over the real and true? "There is no power apart from God," Mrs. Eddy states (ibid., p. 228). Thus it follows that anything which does not reflect this divine power is neither real nor true.

Sometimes to review the journey from sense to Soul as far as he has taken it, and to consider the buds of desire that have unfolded into blossoms along the way, gives the student strength and inspiration to press on. Sometimes this retrospection may show that the way has led through darkest trials—through grief, loss, separation, ingratitude. When, however, one reached the depths, there—right there—Love had always been, ever waiting to reveal the sunlight of Truth.
