It is with a heart full of gratitude that I desire to add my testimony to the great cloud of witnesses to the healing power of Christian Science as set forth by Mary Baker Eddy in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and in her other writings. I was prejudiced against what I thought Christian Science to be, and yet longed to know God. How wonderfully my desire has been met!
Materia medica had failed me utterly, my husband passing on with a so-called hereditary sickness. My one boy, aged six years, was in delicate health, and I left my home to seek in a different climate a betterment of his condition. Very soon afterward I found myself brought into close contact with a student of Christian Science, and was induced to have treatment for my boy. He began immediately to gain in strength, and was soon in a normal condition.
While reading the passage in Science and Health on page 175 where Mrs. Eddy refers to "a rose, the smile of God," I experienced my first healing. All the previous summer I had been held in bondage to hay fever and was dreading a return of this condition. I felt the truth of this passage and was immediately released. This healing has been permanent. Also I had suffered from nausea, declared to be due to the high altitude. I requested help, and in this healing, which was instantaneous, the beautiful altitude to which my thought was lifted freed me from old dogmas, as I realized I was experiencing what Paul meant when writing to the Romans, "The Spirit ... beareth witness with our spirit." I knew beyond all shadow of doubt that I had found the "pearl of great price." Since this time Christian Science has been my all, meeting every need. We have experienced many healings: scarlet fever, chronic colds, accidents, and fear of loneliness have been swept into oblivion. Fearfulness of the future has given way to a great looking forward to "the glory which shall be revealed."
