Christian Science teaches that God's way always brings...
Christian Science teaches that God's way always brings the most good to the greatest number, and that true thoughts go out and benefit all who come within their radius.
Over five years ago my grandfather, who was then over eighty years of age, suffered from a broken leg, the result of an accident. After two months the attending physician gave little hope of his ever leaving the hospital, as the leg gave no signs of knitting; and if it ever did, it was feared he would be too much weakened from his long inaction to be able to walk. Meanwhile his mind had seemed to fail completely. At this time my mother and I realized that because he was not a Christian Scientist we had accepted the claims of matter as true. So, in justice to ourselves as well as to him, we declared the truth whenever the lie presented itself to our thoughts. We knew that the only Mind there is, is God, and that no part of that Mind can ever be lost. This was on Sunday, and by Wednesday we received word that his condition was much better than it had been at any time since the accident. One week and a half later his mind had been completely restored, and his leg was healing nicely. Later, while still using crutches, he walked as far as three miles at one time. This demonstration also provided a happy home for him, my mother, and me.
Also, through persistent study I was cured of a very large goiter of seven years' standing. This, however, was not accomplished until I had overcome my fear and sensitiveness of others' thoughts, by knowing that no one can know anything about me that God does not know and that He knows only perfection. I have also been healed of typhoid pneumonia, eczema, warts, colds, earache, ulcerated tooth, and tonsillitis which I had had almost every year. More than all else I am grateful for the change of character. I am gradually overcoming a bad temper, and my prayer is to love more each day.
