From the Board of Lectureship

The Christian Science Board of Lectureship

In thanking the branch churches and societies for their loyal and generous support during the past twelve months, the Board of Lectureship of The Mother Church desires to call attention to the revised recommendations which are now being issued, and which will be duly distributed in the usual pamphlet form.

The history of the experience of our Master was characterized by promptness, accuracy, and orderliness. Of the many qualifications essential in the work of a Christian Scientist, alertness or promptness is by no means the least important. There is no less scope for the demonstration of this important quality or characteristic in the lecture work than in any of the other numerous activities of the Christian Science movement. The necessity for promptness being recognized, cooperation is seen to be natural. This cooperation is just as important among the members of the church as it is between the church members and the Board of Lectureship.

Every student of Christian Science realizes that activity is not merely the doing of something. Rather is it the conscious and persistent realization and consequent demonstration of the truth. When, therefore, the question of choice of lecturer arises, the members of the committee should not be so much engaged in wondering which lecturer they would have as in realizing that the need is already met, and that the irresistible and unopposable government of God, good, is now operating and controlling every event and every detail in connection with the lecture.
