About four years ago dear friends told us about Christian Science. Owing to a severe operation which I had recently undergone, and to serious family discord, I was a mental and physical wreck. Although good intentions were not lacking, I could not grasp the teachings of Christian Science deeply enough to be healed, and so I grew worse and worse. At the same time my husband, too, was going through a severe struggle. He was thinking of separating from his partner, who was making it very difficult for him to do so. Again it was our dear friends who called our attention to Christian Science, and with their help the conflicts were ended.

This experience gave us courage; but during the inflation period our business passed through a severe crisis, which took us back to the point which we thought we had just overcome, namely, to that of complete discouragement. Then we turned to one of the kind practitioners, who lovingly and sympathetically took an interest in our affairs and endeavored to help us over the difficulties which it seems one must pass to gain inward mental clearness. We began to strive earnestly to utilize this wonderful teaching, and our efforts were crowned with success and accompanied by many blessings.

As I have already mentioned, I had undergone a serious operation soon after our marriage, and the doctors had left me no hope that I should ever become a mother. The time arrived, however, when I could ask a practitioner to take up the work with me for the child I expected.
