Glorifying God

It is recorded in John's Gospel that when Jesus was told that his friend Lazarus was sick, he replied, "This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby." And he later on proved his statement by restoring Lazarus to health.

To-day, in all parts of the world, men, women, and children are learning through the teachings of Christian Science how to follow Jesus' example. The divine Principle by which Jesus healed the sick, reformed the sinner, comforted the sorrowing, and raised the dead has been revealed in this age by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. Through her unselfed love and inspired service the Christian Science church has been established with its many activities, by means of which the gospel of healing is being carried all over the globe, proving itself a panacea for evil of every sort.

To a world in bondage to sickness, sin, and death, Christian Science brings a practical and never failing remedy—the religion of love. What a precious gift! How glorious, how satisfying, to know that in God, divine Love, is to be found freedom from every ill! The need of the hour is for that unselfed love for God and man which Mrs. Eddy has defined in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 250) as "the tender, unselfish deed done in secret; the silent, ceaseless prayer; the self-forgetful heart that overflows; the veiled form stealing on an errand of mercy, out of a side door; the little feet tripping along the sidewalk; the gentle hand opening the door that turns toward want and woe, sickness and sorrow, and thus lighting the dark places of earth."
