One might infer from an editorial in a recent issue of your paper that Christian Science practice is the exercise of the power of the human mind over matter, whereas Christian Science practice is the utilization of the power of the divine Mind, which is God. This healing power of the divine Mind becomes operative in individual experience through replacing the thoughts of the mortal or "carnal" mind with the thoughts of the immortal, divine Mind, through thinking thoughts of life instead of death, of love instead of hate, of truth instead of error or evil, of harmony instead of discord, until in some degree the divine Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus" is attained. Then, to a corresponding degree, the works which he did will follow; for, as Christian Science teaches, it was the divine Mind which was in Christ Jesus which did his mighty works. As he himself said, "But the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works."

The Master healed every case that was brought to him; he never failed in his healing work, and he said, "These signs shall follow them that believe; ... they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." This statement makes no exceptions of cancer, filling a tooth, healing an abscess, or setting a broken bone, as mentioned in your editorial. To the extent that the divine Mind which was in Christ Jesus is also in us, all manner of diseases may be healed; and Christian Science is to-day doing this work, as is proved by thousands of well-authenticated cases of healing.
