Allness of Divine Love

That dearly loved and frequently quoted sentence from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 497), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need," is followed by another no less beautiful and helpful, namely, "It is not well to imagine that Jesus demonstrated the divine power to heal only for a select number or for a limited period of time, since to all mankind and in every hour, divine Love supplies all good."

The completeness of the statement! Note the phrases: not for a "select number" nor a "limited period," but for "all mankind," in "every hour, ... all good." There is no hesitation here. Clear as a bell ring out the words of truth, that truth which the Bible tells us will assuredly make us free.

In II Corinthians we find it written, "The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into capativity every thought to the obedience of Christ." Do not the beautiful words of Mrs. Eddy quoted above cast down the imagination that Jesus' healing works were done in defiance of real law, and also that they were possible of accomplishment only by him and his disciples at that time so long ago? That imagination and false reasoning were wholly refuted by the Master himself when he said, "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever."
