I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for our periodicals. They have been most welcome visitors in our home for ten years. We cannot doubt the wisdom of our revered Leader when she gave us the Manual of The Mother Church as a guide to help us on our way and to keep Christian Science unspotted. On page 44 of the abovementioned book she says, "It shall be the privilege and duty of every member, who can afford it, to subscribe for the periodicals which are the organs of this Church." I have found I cannot afford to be without them. Many blessings have come to me through reading and pondering their contents; also daily blesing has been received through The Christian Science Monitor. I feel deeply grateful to those who so ably edit and write for the periodicals; also for the Bible Lesson committee, the faithful lecturers, and the practitioners who are helping us on our journey from sense to Soul.

I became a student of Christian Science following a healing of typhoid fever. I was ill for ten days, most of the time being a blank to me. Through the faithfulness of a friend who read to me from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and gave me treatment after I asked for Christian Science help, the healing came. When neighbors and friends came to inquire about me and I met them at the door, they were amazed and confounded. The law had been made for me that under the circumstances I must eat nothing but liquids. This law was broken, and I ate what I wanted and as much as I wanted, without any inconvenience or suffering. I have seen error instantaneously eradicated when the truth, as taught in Christian Science was applied faithfully and persistently.

I shall never forget the joy that became a part of my life when the scales fell from my eyes and I caught that first glimpse of Truth as made practical by Jesus the Christ and Christian Science. From that time to this I have never doubted that Christian Science is the truth, the truth which Jesus taught and demonstrated—proved—two thousand years ago, and which is again revealed to this age by our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy. This healing was absolute proof that strength and activity are not in physical structure, but are qualities of the one Mind. This healing took place in 1912, and since that time Christian Science has been our only physician and help in time of need. It has helped me to realize more the presence and power of God; and I realize that just in so far as I think rightly and reflect loveliness, truthfulness, and other qualities of God, am I really living.
