I am very happy to give this testimony of deep gratitude for Christian Science. During many years its mighty truths have been my support in all circumstances; it has healed me of sorrow, of a number of physical ailments, and of the fear of mental darkness. To Christian Science I owe the fulfillment of the greatest desire of my life—the desire to know the truth about Life, about God, and about man. I have gained through its teachings the certainty that there is only one Truth, one God, and that we can possess a demonstrable knowledge of this Truth here and now, thereby defeating the seeming evidences of discordant material living.

Mrs. Eddy says on page 14 of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,—neither in nor of matter,—and the body will then utter no complaints." Some time ago I had a beautiful experience, proving the truth of these words. For about nine months I had suffered with constant pain in my left arm. To material sense it seemed to be caused by too heavy physical work. I tried to apply my understanding of Christian Science, but the pain still remained, causing me much trouble. Sometimes it was so intense as to rob me of sleep, and I could move my arm only with difficulty. One Sunday evening, although the pain was great, I was obliged to go out. While on my way the spiritual truth dawned so clearly on my thought that I became quite conscious of the nothingness of matter; that it has nothing to say about how I shall feel; that it cannot govern me or be conscious of me. The beauty and divinity of Life unfolds to us when we resolutely turn from the evidence of the material senses and cling to the understanding of God and the spiritual universe. On Tuesday evening I became suddenly aware that since that walk on Sunday evening all pain in the arm had disappeared. I was filled with a sense of great deliverance and freedom, and the above-quoted words of Mrs. Eddy stood out as though written before my eyes. Words cannot express the joy and gratitude of my heart for this and other experiences, and for the spiritual uplift that always accompanies each demonstration in Christian Science.

I am grateful to God, our Father-Mother, for the beauty and grandeur of Life; also to Mary Baker Eddy, whose purity, love, and strength enabled her to give this truth to the world; and finally I am grateful to all loving friends who have helped me onward in the study of Christian Science.
