[Original testimony in German]

From youth I belonged to the Reformed Church

From youth I belonged to the Reformed Church. Through wandering and negligence this religion was becoming half lost to me. Thus the years passed until 1919, when my attention was called to Christian Science. Up to that time I had heard almost nothing about it; it was a new religion to me. At first I had much difficulty in understanding it—until the first healing in our family occurred.

We had a very sick daughter, who had suffered a long time and had been treated by various doctors. She was in the hospital and could seem to find no relief. Instead, she was becoming weaker, so that we soon gave up all hope and believed she could not recover. A neighbor told us about Christian Science, and said our daughter ought to try it; it had healed him and had brought much good to his family, for which he was extremely grateful. My wife went with our child to a practitioner, and asked for help and treatment. In a short time our daughter improved. After we were convinced of her healing, I took all the medicine that was left in the house and threw it away. Since then we have used no material remedies, but in all circumstances have relied upon Christian Science, and have found it very dependable.

I am satisfied by the reading and study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, also by the weekly Lesson-Sermon and services, which have brought about blessing and healings for me. There has arisen a sanctuary for me where God is revealed; I have found a new religion, which is based on the Rock, Christ. For Christ Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Through the study of the Bible and the textbook together, I have learned to understand that there is but one divine Principle, God, who is the only power, omnipotent, all-knowing, and omnipresent. This omnipotence of God was proved by Christ Jesus when he cast out devils and healed the sick.
