For about ten years prior to my acceptance of Christian Science...
For about ten years prior to my acceptance of Christian Science I was a semi-invalid, suffering constantly from pain, weakness, and fatigue. The physicians tried conscientiously to help me. The treatments resorted to were many, hot baths and electrical and medical treatments of various kinds being used. I tried fourteen doctors, but grew worse all the time.
I took up the study of Christian Science seven years ago, and began to improve at once. I gained twenty-three pounds in a little over a month. Some of the diseases which vanished through the application of the truth were lung and stomach troubles, sick headache, and influenza. Glasses, which I had worn since I was twenty-one, have also been put off. Christian Science has indeed renewed, reclaimed, and regenerated my consciousness to a great extent; and I am confident that as I apply its teachings I shall continue to grow "in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ."
It is difficult for me to find words to express my gratitude for these healings, and for the many other blessings which I have received through the action of divine Truth. Words can only faintly describe what it means to be somewhat free from the bondage of false beliefs, and to experience some of the freedom that is the rightful heritage of every child of God. Indeed, the way in which one's thankfulness can be best expressed is by striving each day to pattern one's life after the manner taught and lived by Christ Jesus, and made practical for us by Mrs. Eddy's discovery of Christian Science. I am deeply grateful for class instruction, also for membership in The Mother Church. I am also grateful for the understanding of the Bible that I have gained through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy; it has indeed opened up what was formerly a closed book to me, and has given me a practical knowledge of God as divine Principle, Love.
