I heard Christian Science spoken of for the first time in...
I heard Christian Science spoken of for the first time in 1914, a few days before entering a sanatorium in Gland. For several years I had suffered from a stomach trouble which was growing worse. I had consulted several physicians, and taken a great deal of medicine, without obtaining any result. After a stay of a fortnight in the sanatorium, the doctor told me that only an operation could heal me, but I was too weak to bear it. The following night I prayed much, and the desire came to me to return home and have Christian Science help. I called a practitioner, and shall never forget her first visit. I saw immediately that I had found what I needed. She helped me, and taught me very patiently and lovingly. At the end of a month I was well enough to eat anything set before me, and to walk a little. A short time afterwards I could attend the Christian Science services; and it was not long before my healing was complete. Four years ago I had a proof of divine power at the birth of my little boy.
I have had the joy and privilege of being a member of a branch church since 1919. I am very grateful for the spiritual uplift I have gained—the understanding of God and His perfect creation. I can say that Christian Science is the light of my life, a daily help in my affairs. I am grateful, too, for the periodicals, which help us to understand and to walk in the truth. All my gratitude reaches out to God and to Mrs. Eddy for the revelation of the teachings of Christ Jesus.
