Fruitage

All nature is proclaiming the glad time of fruitage. Every year it calls upon men to see and know that good has been multiplied beyond power of human ken to estimate. Plenty declares itself everywhere, from overflowing granary to gorgeous riot of color in wood and field. It is not strange that the time when fruit has been gathered in such rich measure for winter store should have been chosen as the appropriate season for a nation to gather together in thanksgiving to God, the great and gracious Giver of all good.

To no one comes this recognition of glad fruition with more impelling power than to the earnest, consecrated Christian Scientist. To him it is but symbolical of all the glories of blessing and blessedness which Christian Science has brought into his experience. He therefore hails the Thanksgiving season as an added opportunity to count over again the countless benefits which have accrued to him through the revelation of this God-given, perfect, clearly demonstrable Science.

While Christian Science teaches that men may rejoice always in God's infinite goodness, Christian Scientists are increasingly grateful that the early settlers of our land were led to set aside an especial time once a year when all may turn to God unitedly in pouring out their hearts in thankfulness. They know they cannot have their attention called too frequently to opportunity and necessity for gratitude. They realize with ever increasing clearness that they, too, should awaken to the presence of fruitage and the need of letting this fruitage be the call to an ever larger effort to bring forth better and better works.
