A few years ago, I was brought from Cairo to Vienna a hopeless, helpless invalid. My husband thought that the change of climate and the doctors in Vienna might help me, since the drugs, medicines, tonics, and injections taken in Cairo had only seemed to make me worse. The doctors in Vienna, however, were unable to relieve the pain caused by the disease. I was sent to the mountains, where I improved at first; then the old phases of the condition returned, and I gave up fighting. My children reminded me, however, that I must live, and I cried out to God for help.

At this point a friend lent my husband a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and told him of its wonderful value. My husband said, on handing me the book, "Here you will find your health." I commenced reading at the first page, and after half an hour knew it was what I had been seeking and longing for ever since childhood. I threw away all medicines, and after two weeks' reading was able to walk in the woods. Complete healing still seemed to me unattainable, and I sought more the spiritual peace which Christian Science brought. The healing came slowly; but finally the tetany, nerve fever, inaction of the bowels, and exhaustion disappeared.

My gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for this perfect and applicable explanation of the Bible, and to the practitioners who have lovingly and unselfishly helped me on the way, cannot be expressed in words. I am striving to prove in daily deeds my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, my love for Christ Jesus, and my obedience to God.
