For many years I suffered from a nephritic complaint of which many physicians could not heal me. In 1920 my condition grew so much worse that I was never without discomfort. As an inmate of various hospitals, I was treated by several physicians, but was not helped, and my condition grew worse. In January, 1923, I was to undergo an operation, because an X-ray photograph showed that a large stone had formed in the right kidney, and according to the physicians it might grow larger and could never be removed without an operation. Fear of the operation caused me to leave the hospital in order to consult another physician.
At this time a dear relative, a loyal worker in Christian Science, visited us. She dispelled my fear, so that as soon as she had gone I visited a Christian Science practitioner. Although I could not so readily believe in a perfect healing, I was immediately helped, and after the second treatment felt a decided improvement. I was freed of all fear of new attacks, and as often as signs of a relapse appeared, with the help of the dear practitioner, and by earnestly reading and studying the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and the Heralds, I was able to destroy the illness. Those who saw my suffering in those years know how grateful I am and shall continue to be for my healing. To-day I am joyous and happy with my family, and am able to attend to all my household duties, something that had been almost impossible during the last few years. For this healing and for many other blessings which have come to me and to my family in Christian Science, I am very grateful to all who led me to this teaching.
