Sufficient time has elapsed since the first beneficent influence...

Sufficient time has elapsed since the first beneficent influence of Christian Science came into my life to prove that its effects were neither illusory nor transient. My first healing occurred some twelve years ago, after I had resorted to every material remedy known for constipation. This healing was not only instantaneous, but permanent. A great sense of gratitude was experienced, though not sufficient to arouse my desire to know what had accomplished such marvelous results. About two years later I was compelled to seek Christian Science again for a healing of boils. My progress was seemingly slow; and for this I am grateful, as it prompted the earnest study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

A healing of typhoid-meningitis was to me and my family nothing less than a miracle. A peculiarity of the disease is the sensation of being in the possession of two bodies, also the inability to sleep. One morning while the practitioner was treating me, the sensation of having two bodies left me and I fell asleep for the first time in two weeks, awakening with such a deep sense of gratitude that my healing progresssed rapidly. The belief of slow recovery was entirely overcome, and in a week I was able to resume my work, having been absent less than a month. Grateful as I am for these physical benefits, it is only as they are the signs following mental and moral regeneration that they are significant.

The privilege of class instruction has been mine, and I esteem it a very great blessing. My concept of how best to show my gratitude for Christian Science is to study faithfully its authorized works and live what they teach.
