My first healing was from chilblains, which had been so severe that I was unable to wear a shoe, and could hardly hobble about. I understood nothing of Christian Science, having only just begun to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and to attend the church services; but I began to repeat the spiritual interpretation of the Lord's Prayer, as given in this book (pp. 16, 17), and became so engrossed in it that when I again thought about the condition it was not there. It had vanished; and I have never again suffered from that complaint, though before this healing every winter was spent in misery.
I was also healed of a tendency to have greatly swollen limbs after being bitten by mosquitoes, and on occasion had been confined to bed for a fortnight after a day spent in the woods. I grew to fear entering woods or passing near water in the summer; and the beauty of nature was overclouded by this dread, until the loving help of a practitioner brought healing to me in one treatment. Although I have since been in oases in the Sahara Desert where the horses' necks were white with mosquitoes, I have never again had the least discomfort.
I returned from business one morning in a state of collapse caused by an attack of influenza. The same faithful worker gave me treatment, and I was healed at once, returning to business the following day. Bilious attacks that made life a misery, and from which I had suffered terribly since childhood, have entirely disappeared. A tendency to heavy colds every winter has also vanished completely; and intense fear of visiting the dentist has also been overcome.
