Christian Scientists recognize the Christ as ever present...

Christian Scientists recognize the Christ as ever present to heal disease and to take away sin. They realize that Jesus bestowed on mankind the revelation of certain vital spiritual truths which animated his career. It is not his personality, but the mighty power behind his wonderful words and works which they joyfully and reverently accept as the living, operating presence of Christ indicated by his significant words, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." When Jesus said, "It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you," he knew that looking to the personal Jesus rather than to the divine Principle which inspired his mighty works, the people would lose the grand object of his mission, the vitalizing truth which makes free, throughout all time; and thus they would miss the way of life and the knowledge of the ever present Christ, the Son of God. On page 332 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy says, "Jesus demonstrated Christ; he proved that Christ is the divine idea of God—the Holy Ghost, or Comforter, revealing the divine Principle, Love, and leading into all truth."
