I am very grateful that Christian Science has come into my life. For over two years, while in the north of Scotland, I was treated for what was termed chronic Bright's disease. When it became evident that I was not improving, I was taken to an infirmary at Glasgow for further treatment. Christian Science was brought to my notice by a lady who visited me there, and who gave me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which I read, but did not understand at the time. After I had been treated for seven months by the physicians in the infirmary, my case was pronounced incurable, and I was told that nothing more could be done for me.
I was then taken to live with Christian Scientists, and this was a great comfort. I began to read the textbook understandingly. The statement that appealed to me most was that Jesus never inquired if a disease were acute or chronic, and never gave drugs. I then asked for help from a Christian Science practitioner. After having treatment I was able to attend the Christian Science church the following Sunday, although I had not been in church for over three years; and within a short time all signs of this trouble had been overcome. I then realized that God was my Physician, and the truth my only medicine.
Grateful as I am for this healing, which took place a year and a half ago, I am more grateful to know that divine Love is ever present, even where human aid fails, and in that presence there is no disease. I am also grateful for the instruction I have received in the Christian Science Sunday School, which has been an immense help to me in the working out of my daily problems. I am grateful to the practitioner who so kindly helped me; also to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has revealed to us the healing truth, which Jesus taught. Words can never express my gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me.
